Applying for Membership
- Minimum of three years technical or managerial experience and actively employed in the business of insurance. If you do not have 3 years yet, we also have an Associate Membership option.
- Attend three PIW meetings (we look at a 2-year time period where
you've attended as a guest).
- Complete application.
- Three (3) membership recommendation letters - although we are not
allowed to give out the membership roster, we can introduce you to some of the
members to help you with the letters.
- Annual dues payment of $60. This amount would be pro-rated depending on the month you join PIW. Our term runs October-September.
Professional Insurance Women was established in September, 1980 by 13 women who had achieved middle management status in their insurance careers and their personal lives. The organization has grown and flourished not only in the size of its membership, but in the activities in which it is involved.
Professional Insurance Women extends the value of the networking concept into the local insurance community by inviting guests to attend special meetings and seminars. These open meetings are an opportunity for all insurance professionals to hear speakers on a broad range of topics and to participate in a free exchange of ideas with their peers.
They also increase the visibility of PIW members in the insurance industry. Annual traditions that have been established through these meetings include breakfast with risk managers, industry leaders, and a summer golf outing. Closed meetings offer the members an opportunity to talk with each other about topics of concern to the group and develop closer relationships.
